WASHINGTON, DC – The following statement was released today by NABTU in response to President’s Trump’s call for legislative action on America’s crumbling infrastructure during his State of the Union address to Congress:

“The State of the Union address is an opportunity for the President to lay out an agenda for a brighter future for our nation. NABTU is encouraged that the agenda laid out by President Trump includes a focus on rebuilding our nation’s dilapidated infrastructure.

“Our unions have been actively working with other stakeholders to push an aggressive and broad public infrastructure investment package for quite some time, and we look forward to working with both the Administration and Congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle to enact a $1.5 trillion infrastructure package that will: create millions of job opportunities for American construction professionals; modernize the permitting process for major U.S. infrastructure; increase safety and economic competitiveness; and lay the foundation for long-term economic prosperity for Americans in communities large and small.”
