Washington, D.C. – October 24, 2024 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey:

“Yesterday at an event sponsored by Turning Point, an unabashedly racist and fascist espousing organization, and on the same day bombshell reports about Donald Trump’s affinity for the generals of Hitler, the worst dictator in the history of the world who was responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jewish people and tens of millions of people around the globe during World War II, Trump praised an anti-union construction affiliated association, the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

“We at the building trades have our differences with the ABC, and we are polar opposites regarding the rights of construction professionals to organize, join a union, and collectively bargain with their employers for safe job sites, fair wages, and benefits to ensure a middle-class, family-sustaining livelihood. The fact that ABC supports this tyrant and, worse yet, broadcasts their pleasure in being mentioned at this fascist event on the very day that Trump’s long-rumored feelings for the Nazi regime are publicly confirmed via audio interview from a decorated four-star Marine general and devout conservative General John Kelly, is sickening.

“What happened yesterday speaks to Trump’s character and the true values of ABC, an astroturf organization whose existence only seeks to hold down construction professionals, both union and nonunion, from achieving a middle-class life based on their skills and efforts at work each day. Now we know what #ABCmeritproud truly means, and it is shameful.”
