NABTU STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S STATE OF THE UNION SPEECH

Washington, D.C. – March 2, 2022 – North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement:

“Throughout his campaign and first year on the job, President Biden promised to serve as a President for all Americans. In last night’s State of the Union address, he elaborated on how he has kept these promises and delivered for the American people, once again proving why he is the right person for this job. Time and time again, the entire Biden-Harris Administration has given more than lip-service to rebuilding America; they have shown that they are the most pro-worker Administration of our lifetime.

“Key legislative victories including the American Rescue Plan and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are much-needed wins for working families across the country and are inspiring everyday Americans to organize and take pride in their work. Speaker Pelosi’s virtual guest to last night’s address, Meg-Anne Pryor, is a great example. As an IUOE Apprentice Coordinator who launched her career through San Francisco’s diversity-focused CityBuild program, Meg-Anne is inspiring the next generation of middle class Americans to do the same, and help our nation build tomorrow’s infrastructure today with middle class, family-sustaining construction careers. Brothers and sisters, the state of the union is good, and with your dedication and the government’s continued prioritization of the middle class, the best is yet to come.”
