NABTU STATEMENT ON PASSING OF RICHARD L. TRUMKA

Washington, D.C. – August 5, 2021 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement on the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard L. Trumka:

“North America’s Building Trades Unions are greatly saddened by this morning’s passing of our friend and brother, Richard L. Trumka, President of the AFL-CIO.  Brother Trumka was an incredible leader who dedicated his entire career to bettering the livelihoods and working conditions for American workers and all workers around the world, whether union or not.  The labor movement has lost an important and vibrant advocate.  At this critical time for U.S. workers, the men and women of NABTU will close ranks even tighter around Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler and our colleagues at the AFL-CIO.  Anybody who knew Rich knew that family was the most important thing in his life.  We extend our heartfelt sympathy and prayers to his wife Barbara, his entire family and loved ones.”
