NABTU Statement Supporting Looman Nomination for DOL Wage and Hour Division

Washington, D.C. – July 27, 2022 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement:

“NABTU strongly supports the nomination of Jessica Looman to be the Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division (WHD) of the U.S. Department of Labor.  In her role as Principal Deputy Administrator, Looman has recovered millions of back wages for workers and expanded employer assistance to increase compliance, transparency and accountability with DOL programs and initiatives. Furthermore, under her leadership, WHD has proposed a rule to strengthen and modernize federal prevailing wage regulations that will protect workers, improve wage determinations and strengthen enforcement. As a proud building trades member and former Executive Director of the Minnesota State Building and Construction Trades Council, Looman has always prioritized workers, and her accomplished experience as the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Commerce and Assistant and Deputy Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Labor has driven economic progress for both labor and industry. We urge bipartisan support for her nomination as well as a swift confirmation by the Senate.”
