NABTU Applauds the Reintroduction of the PRO Act

Washington, D.C. – March 10, 2025 – North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement in strong support of the reintroduction of the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act:

“The recent reintroduction of the PRO Act marks a critical moment for our members and working people across this country. For too long, corporate interests have manipulated the system to suppress wages, silence workers, and erode fundamental rights on the job. This legislation will finally level the playing field—ensuring every worker has the protected right to organize, collectively bargain, and advocate for fair wages, quality benefits, and safer working conditions without fear of retaliation.

“NABTU and our affiliates have always fought to strengthen labor protections, and this PRO Act legislation is a necessary step forward. It will eliminate harmful and outdated ‘right-to-work’ laws, end employer intimidation tactics, close loopholes that allow corporations to misclassify workers, and impose meaningful penalties on companies that violate labor laws.

“The time to act is now. Congress has a choice: stand with working families or continue enabling a rigged system that puts corporate profits over people. Working people built this country—it’s time Congress ensures they get the respect, dignity, and protections they deserve.”
