NABTU STATEMENT ON 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF SEPTEMBER 11

Washington, D.C. – September 10, 2021 – North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) released the following statement from President Sean McGarvey on the 20th anniversary of 9/11:

“As our nation comes together this week, it is still hard to process that thousands of innocent Americans, including over 60 members of North America’s Building Trades Unions, were taken in an instant by terrorist attacks that changed our world forever. Twenty years later, the memories and horror of September 11 are just as strong, as are the unbelievable sacrifices of those who perished and those heroes – many building trades members – who bravely rushed down to assist at the sites in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

“We commend the compassionate commitment of those who have worked for months and years, risking their own health to help in the rescue, recovery, truth-finding and memorial missions, and our hearts go out to the millions of victims still impacted by this tragedy twenty years later. On this solemn anniversary, let us all do more to make our nation better and not forget those who made these amazing sacrifices and valiant selfless acts to save the lives of others.”
