Washington, D.C. – September 11, 2019 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) released the following statement from President Sean McGarvey on the 18th anniversary of 9/11:

“Eighteen years ago, the horrific 9/11 attacks changed our world and shook our country to its core. On this solemn anniversary, we honor the thousands of innocent Americans including more than 60 building trades members killed during the attacks. We remember those who perished and commend the heroism of countless building trades members and first responders who valiantly risked their lives rescuing others in the immediate aftermath, and in recovery and rebuilding efforts for months and years later. The fortitude and compassion of these heroes epitomize true patriotism. As America comes together again today to reflect on the great sacrifices of so many, our hearts go out to all of the victims and heroes of this dark day in our nation’s history.”
