US House AGAIN Overwhelmingly Defeats Anti-Davis-Bacon Amendment
This week, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to reject an amendment from Rep. Steve King (R-IA) that sought to repeal the Davis-Bacon Act. The amendment was offered during consideration of H.R. 3219 – “Make America Secure Appropriations Act, 2018.”
Thanks to the efforts of the NABTU Legislative Task Force, as well as the efforts of our affiliates, contractor partners and the members of the US House of Representatives’ bi-partisan “Building Trades Caucus,” the King amendment failed by a vote of 178-249, with an unprecedented 58 Republican members of the House voting in favor of protecting the Davis-Bacon Act.
This was the second anti-Davis-Bacon amendment within the last month that was dealt a crushing defeat via a strong bi-partisan vote of House Democrats and Republicans.
