2017 Women Build Nations Makes History
The 2017 Women Build Nations Conference, held October 13-15 in Chicago, IL, was by far the biggest and most well-attended event in its history. Over 1,900 tradeswomen – from apprentices, to journeypersons, to national and local union leaders – converged on the McCormick Center for three days of education and inspiration. Attendees were presented with a multitude of divergent workshops that included sessions devoted to rising to union leadership positions; substance abuse and addiction; careers beyond the tools; and creating political change, among many others.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel opened the proceedings with a videotaped greeting.
