POV: You didn’t go to college, but you still make more than your high school guidance counselor who said you needed a 4 year degree ... See MoreSee Less
He’s Probably making 4X what a guidance counselor makes.
Sheet Metal workers #36 💪
I worked 36 years commercial/ Industrial sheet metal, (Local 80) I'm not even close to being crippled. I live in a$400,000 home, have 2 vehicles. Went though the trade watching my money. It was a Good Occupation!
25 years Sheet Metal worker retired. UNION building trades are the best way for those who want to make a great living
Completely agree! But enjoy going to bed by 8 to get up by 4 or 5, working all over the state, outside, inside. Etc etc. Keep educating yourself and save your body! Torture your mind 😜
But she has a lake house, works six months out of the year and won’t be crippled after they retire.
It's not a competition on $$$ They work hard, we work hard. 💪
This all sounds great. But so many of these unions don't let women in their apprenticeship. It's great for white males. I got in the Steamfitters in 1975. Welded pipe for 36 years. I haven't seen much change. Sexism is alive and well.
Not true
Get 'er done!
“Safety & Skills to Pay the Bills.”
Looks like the steel supports missed the curb a little bit . Us non union guys would have had the curb set right with a drop / sound actuator & a vibration absorber as the tie in point.
I retired in ‘23 with 32 years in the Carpenters Union!
They have a stable career, they work in a clean office, they have sick and vacation days. Being in the trades sucks and it’s not an easy way of life
Broc Code u did it pal congrats
That's not a POV
Not all of us who didn't go to college or didn't finish college are doing so well.
Or that counselor who didn’t want to help you when you weren’t in the top of your class
Amen Me too
Look a carpenter scabbing on a tin knockers job!! You can tell by the thumbs up on a job not finished and looking confused as to what's next!! Then not being tied off in that lift, OSHA makes the rules not me
42 years as an Elevator Constructor, retired.
BULLSHIT!!!! TRADESMAN GO TO TRADES SCHOOLS AND THATS COLLEGE FFS!!!
Yeah but most of the wealthiest people in America went to college. And most graduated from college. Still looking for a billionaire hvac worker. 😂
The Gentleman and Brother that built a pretty great labor organization Local #3 IBEW felt that education was important for workers. It didn't need to be either or. He ensured that every electrician in our union got least a 2 year degree. The people trying to destroy our unions hire the best minds to do the work for them. Please for the love of God, stop making people feel like we have to choose. Be a tradesperson and go to college. Education isn't only about making money.
Tell the young about it. 7% of market share is not good for the longevity of trade unions. Unions need to do a better job of recruiting HS students. Your pensions need them.
Construction worker shortage? More like a shortage of decent wages, safe worksites, and basic respect. Funny how union jobs don’t have that problem. 🤔
