NABTU WELCOMES BRANDON BISHOP AS NEW SECRETARY-TREASURER

Washington, DC – December 20, 2022 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) announced that its Governing Board has elected Brandon Bishop to Secretary-Treasurer, fulfilling the term of NABTU’s current Secretary-Treasurer, Brent Booker. Booker is moving on to a senior leadership role with the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) after a highly productive tenure as NABTU Secretary-Treasurer.

“NABTU is thrilled to welcome Brandon as our new Secretary-Treasurer,” said Sean McGarvey, President of NABTU. “He has been a key player in our senior leadership team as NABTU’s Southern representative with responsibilities overseeing the relationships of the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Southern family of companies, and Disney, among others. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, and we look forward to his leadership. He is extraordinarily dedicated to our mission, and his impact will be greatly enhanced in this new role.”

With over 26 years of experience working in unionized construction and management, Bishop brings a balance of expertise across field services and business development targeted toward construction owners and end-users. Prior to NABTU, he spent five years with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) as the Southern Region International Representative leading various teams and initiatives in the field. Before that, Bishop was a leader at his local union, serving IUOE members as Business Manager, Financial Secretary, Assistant Business Manager and Local 312 President.

“Throughout my career as a trades professional and labor leader, I have always been passionate about expanding access to the fulfilling, family-sustaining career a unionized construction profession provides,” said Brandon Bishop. “I am truly honored and energized to have this opportunity to support the continued growth of NABTU. I will work tirelessly to build on the strong foundation Sean and Brent have set and introduce new strategies to support NABTU’s objectives and development. Along with my wife of 24 years, Joanna, and our two children, Brooks and Brynlee, we look forward to all that is to come in this new role.”

Bishop starts his position as Secretary-Treasurer beginning January 2023.
