NORTH AMERICA’S BUILDING TRADES UNIONS’ STATEMENT HONORING LABOR DAY 2018
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 31, 2018) – Sean McGarvey, President of North America’s Building Trades Unions, issued the following statement honoring the 2018 Labor Day holiday in the United States and Canada:
“Labor Day was created to pay tribute to our workforce and acknowledge the foundation it provides to North America’s strength, prosperity, and freedom.
“Today, we celebrate the rights and triumphs that the labor movement has gained not only for their members but for all working families. North America’s Building Trades Unions continue to provide a voice for their members and all construction workers, not only while on the job but as we collectively seek to expand opportunity and access that will strengthen entire communities and create the necessary foundation for growth and prosperity for all.
“Through our work, we endeavor to honor workers every day. This weekend we should all reflect on the sacrifices made by workers who came before us, and working families who need a voice for the voiceless now more than ever. With this in mind, it is with great pleasure, pride, and hope for the future, that I wish workers across North America a well-earned Labor Day holiday.”
