NORTH AMERICA’S BUILDING TRADES UNIONS PROUDLY SUPPORT THE HARRIS – WALZ TICKET FOR PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT

Washington, D.C. – August 6, 2024 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU), representing over 3 million union construction professionals, issued the following statement from its President Sean McGarvey:

“North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) proudly support and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris’s selection of Governor Tim Walz — military veteran, hunter, fisherman, and longtime friend of the Building Trades — as her running mate. Governor Walz, has long advocated for the use of project labor agreements and preached the benefits of middle-class, family-sustaining union jobs.  As a dedicated advocate for labor rights, military veteran, outdoorsman, and staunch supporter of working families, Walz has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the principles and values that our unions uphold.”

“From being a teacher, football coach, 24-year veteran of the Army National Guard, and union member to fighting for Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives for a decade, Walz has proven himself as an outstanding leader and true public servant. Now, as Governor of Minnesota, Walz advanced infrastructure development, job creation, and workforce training, all of which have directly benefited our members and their families. His collaborative approach and steadfast support for labor unions have fostered an environment where skilled tradespeople can thrive and contribute to the growth and prosperity of our nation.”

“Like President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Governor Walz understands the critical importance of fair wages, safe working conditions, and the right to collective bargaining. He has been instrumental in advancing policies that protect workers’ rights and ensure that the voices of our members are heard at every level of government.”

“We are confident that with Kamala Harris as President and Tim Walz as Vice President, the future of our nation’s workforce will be brighter and more secure. Together, we will continue to build a better America for all.”
