NABTU THANKS BRENT BOOKER FOR HIS PHENOMENAL LEADERSHIP AS SECRETARY-TREASURER

Washington, DC – December 15, 2022 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement on Brent Booker’s stepping down as Secretary-Treasurer:

“The entire NABTU family congratulates our friend and brother Brent Booker on his new opportunity at the Laborers’ International Union of North America. We applaud his incredible leadership and dedicated service to our industry and the over 3 million members we proudly serve. The impact Brent has had on this organization is immeasurable and will be felt for decades. In addition to being a remarkable colleague and close friend, he has been a vital advocate for unionized construction. In board rooms and on job sites, Brent has personally led the negotiations on scores of agreements with a total value of over $350 billion of construction activity. In the halls of Congress, he has fought for a just energy transition and for stronger labor and training standards to protect and uplift all of America’s construction workforce. Brent’s relentless pursuit of creating opportunities in the unionized construction industry for women, communities of color, veterans and the justice-involved has been fierce and dogged. As Secretary-Treasurer, Brent helped us transform NABTU into a much more impactful and collaborative labor organization. We wish nothing but the best for Brent, Katie, and the entire Booker family. We will miss him tremendously, but we look forward to working closely with him in his new role.”
