Washington, D.C. – June 15, 2020 – North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement applauding today’s Supreme Court ruling that LGBTQ workers cannot be fired based on sexual orientation or gender identity:

“It’s long past time in our country that we ensure all Americans civil rights and workers’ rights. We applaud this decision to protect our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. Today’s ruling affirms what we know – that any form of discrimination is unacceptable. We don’t tolerate it on our jobsites, and we don’t tolerate it in our communities. This landmark decision is another step forward towards equality and dignity for all.”
