NABTU STATEMENT ON WORKERS’ MEMORIAL DAY 2025

Washington, D.C. – April 28, 2025 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey released the following statement:

“Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions pauses to honor every worker who lost their life, was injured, or became ill simply doing their job — including far too many in construction.

“Every loss in our ranks is deeply personal. Their sacrifice strengthens our fight for safer jobsites, stronger rights, and the highest health and safety standards. That’s why we defend the OSH Act, protect critical agencies like OSHA and NIOSH, and support critical construction safety advocates like CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training.

“As we remember those we’ve lost, we renew our commitment to safeguard the physical and mental health of every member, demand safer worksites, and build a future where no worker’s life is put at risk simply for doing their job. Today and every day, NABTU remembers and continues to fight for a safer, stronger future for all.”
