“Today, we honor the life and legacy of one of the most powerful vessels of change in American history, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We reflect on the ideals of peace and justice – including economic justice and opportunity for all – for which this extraordinary leader stood. During this time of great turmoil, his memory is humbling. His activism and remarkable rhetoric impacted this entire nation. Respect for human dignity and fundamental rights are as important now as they were then. His bold vision and hope for America is an inspiring and patriotic call of duty for all of us to continue his service every day, as we promote love, civility and respect toward all.”
