Washington, D.C. – October 13, 2022 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement regarding the launch of the Council for Responsible Social Media:

“I’m honored to represent North America’s Building Trades Unions as the only labor representative on the Council for Responsible Social Media. This recognition speaks to the way our 14 affiliated unions are run and to our deep and historic commitment to democracy. This council aims to address the various threats presented by social media while advancing meaningful reforms to protect our national security.
