Washington, D.C. – January 30, 2025 – North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement: 

“The entire NABTU family is heartbroken by the tragic loss of life in last night’s devastating crash. Our deepest condolences go out to all those affected, especially the families, friends, and colleagues of the victims. We are particularly devastated by the loss of five young building trades brothers—dedicated members of the United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters and Steamfitters Local 602 and United Association of Union Plumbers and Gasfitters Local 5.  Their passing is an immeasurable loss to our community.

“In this moment of profound sorrow, we extend our deepest gratitude to the first responders and search-and-rescue teams who acted with courage and urgency.  As we grieve alongside the nation, we stand in unwavering solidarity with the families and loved ones of the victims, offering our full support to all those impacted by this tragedy.”
