Washington, D.C. – September 10, 2025 —Tonight, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement: 

“The murder of Charlie Kirk is an abomination, and NABTU and its affiliated unions condemn it in the strongest terms. Political violence has no place in our national discourse, yet it has become far too common. Enough is enough.

“Our prayers go out to Mr. Kirk’s family during this painful time. After this period of mourning, we are hopeful for leadership from the President, Congress, and, certainly, across party lines, to come together and, in a united front, commit to a new way forward.  We must remember that we are all Americans first, and in America, we can debate and disagree passionately and respectfully without resorting to violence. NABTU stands ready to support any such effort in furtherance of a more honorable, civil dialogue worthy of our democracy.”
