NABTU APPLAUDS TODAY’S ROUNDTABLE ON PERMITTING REFORM

Washington, DC – June 27, 2018 – North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) issued the following statement from NABTU President Sean McGarvey after today’s Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs roundtable discussion on reforming the federal permitting process for major infrastructure projects:

“I appreciate being part of today’s important roundtable discussion to examine the federal permitting process for major infrastructure projects. Permitting directly impacts the millions of workers in the building and construction trades across the nation. While we support reforms like the FAST-41, which lead us toward a path of standardization and finality in the permitting process, we need much more to be done. NABTU applauds Senators Portman and McCaskill for their leadership and bipartisan commitment to advance practical solutions on this serious issue, and we look forward to helping in the collaborative efforts toward improving and modernizing the permitting process for our industry.”
