NABTU APPLAUDS THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY’S FUNDING FOR THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST HYDROGEN HUB UNDER H2HUBS PROGRAM

Washington, D.C. – August 2, 2024 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement:

“NABTU is thrilled to see the Department of Energy’s announcement of an initial $27.5 million allocated to the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub under DOE’s $7 billion H2Hubs program. This crucial investment in renewable hydrogen infrastructure highlights the region’s leadership in clean energy initiatives and paves the way for a sustainable future as building trades members work to expand the hydrogen industry across this country.

The support for the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub underscores the collaborative efforts between the Department of Energy and regional stakeholders to drive economic growth, create middle-class sustaining jobs, and ensure that the transition to green energy is achieved using union labor.

NABTU looks forward to our members playing a pivotal role in building and expanding this hydrogen hub, which will serve as a testament to the value of union labor in achieving our nation’s climate goals.”
