NABTU APPLAUDS THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY’S $1.2 BILLION HYDROGEN HUB FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT IN CALIFORNIA

Washington, D.C. – July 19, 2024 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement:

“NABTU is pleased to see the Department of Energy’s announcement of $1.2 billion allocated to the Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES) to build and expand clean energy infrastructure across California. The landmark investment underscores the vital role that this hydrogen hub project will play in advancing our nation’s energy infrastructure, promoting economic growth, and paving the way for a sustainable future as building trades members work to expand the hydrogen industry across this country.

The funding highlights California’s leadership in reaching climate and energy goals and exemplifies the successful collaboration between the Department of Energy, ARCHES, and their commitment to ensuring that green jobs are good union jobs. We are confident that the development of these hubs will create middle-class sustaining union jobs, stimulate the local economy, and advance the energy industry as a whole.”
