NABTU APPLAUDS BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION FOR OSHA PROPOSED RULE TO PROTECT WORKERS FROM HEAT-RELATED ILLNESSES

Washington, D.C. – July 2, 2024 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement:

“NABTU applauds the Biden Administration for moving forward with a reasonable, common sense OSHA proposed rule to protect workers from heat-related illnesses. We look forward to this phase of the rulemaking process and plan to submit written comments on science-based controls and practices that construction employers can implement to ensure workers are protected. This proposed rule is timely and will mean improved working conditions during this hot summer while employers implement needed controls that will immediately save lives.  NABTU expresses sincere gratitude to the Biden Administration for moving this rule forward, and we stand ready to work with employers to make sure the summer of 2024 is as safe as possible while we get work done.”
