Washington, DC – July 30, 2019 – North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) issued the following statement by President Sean McGarvey commending the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee for unanimously approving America’s Transportation and Infrastructure Act 2019 (ATIA):

“North America’s Building Trades Unions commend the bipartisan leadership of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works on America’s Transportation Infrastructure Act of 2019.  The action taken today by the Committee is a vital first step in the passage of a desperately needed broad-based infrastructure package.  This legislation will provide meaningful, and greatly needed, investments in our nation’s transportation infrastructure that will create millions of job opportunities for building trades members across the country.  The safest and most highly skilled construction workforce in the world is ready to deliver safer, more efficient transportation infrastructure that will incorporate new technologies and lay a foundation for future economic growth across the nation, and we look forward to continuing to work with the Committee as this bill moves forward.”
