NORTH AMERICA’S BUILDING TRADES UNIONS STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF IBEW PRESIDENT EMERITUS EDWIN D. HILL

Washington, D.C. – December 05, 2018 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey released the following statement on the passing of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) President Emeritus Edwin D. Hill, who led IBEW from 2001 to 2015:

“This weekend, the Building Trades lost a revered leader with the passing of President Emeritus Ed Hill. His voice was among the most respected and unifying throughout the entire labor movement. President Hill was a fighter for our workers and never surrendered when challenges and union-busting obstacles came in the way of his cherished IBEW.

“President Hill worked tirelessly to ensure IBEW’s legacy lasted for generations. Much of IBEW’s success to this day is because of the great effort he put in to his job day in and day out – even upon his retirement, where he worked with Electricians Without Borders to help Haiti rebuild after the 2010 earthquake damaging most of the country.

“President Hill represented the core values of the Building Trades to the highest extent, as he served as a true role model and trailblazer. On behalf of NABTU, we extend our sincerest condolences to President Hill’s family and loved ones.”
