Washington, D.C. – April 1, 2022 – North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement regarding President Biden’s Defense Production Act Mining Executive Order:

“President Biden has again shown his clear initiative to bring energy security and independence back to America. His order through the Defense Production Act will allow this country to responsibly tap into its strategic critical mineral supply, and in doing so will create good middle-class sustaining union jobs that lead us to a cleaner energy economy while ensuring a strong domestic supply chain.

“North America’s Building Trades Unions, its affiliates, and their members who work in this critical industry stand ready to safely and responsibly ensure these critical minerals are developed in an environmentally sound manner.”
