NABTU STATEMENT ON THE DAKOTA ACCESS PIPELINE SHUTDOWN
Washington, D.C. – July 8, 2020 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement on the Dakota Access Pipeline:
“Our members safely and successfully built the Dakota Access Pipeline, and we are extremely disappointed by the recent shutdown ruling. This decision is wrong for workers and wrong for national energy security. The trend to deny working families access to middle-class sustaining jobs in the oil and gas industry by flagrant legal abuse by environmental zealots and sympathetic court rulings must stop. We need to improve state and federal regulatory certainty so that safe, environmental and economical pipeline infrastructure projects can put thousands of Americans to work and boost ladders to the middle class with good, family-supporting jobs and apprenticeships.”
