NORTH AMERICA’S BUILDING TRADES UNIONS STATEMENT HONORING VETERANS DAY

Washington, D.C. – November 12, 2018 – Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) issued the following statement from President Sean McGarvey in honor of Veterans Day:

“One hundred years ago, World War 1 – the Great War, the war to end all wars – finally ended. On this Veterans Day, North America’s Building Trades Unions honor those who fought bravely in that war, and all wars since.

“We owe our service members a debt that can never be truly re-paid, but we must do all we can to support them, to honor them, and to show our gratitude for all they do. Through our Helmets to Hardhats program, our unions and signatory contractors stand at the ready to help these remarkable men and women secure a stable and prosperous career in the construction industry when their military career comes to an end. All of us in the building trades value this commitment to keeping America’s promise to our veterans, just as they kept their promise to us. Today, we are joined with all of our members in thanking, honoring and remembering our veteran members and all veterans and their families, for their service and sacrifice.”
