NABTU STATEMENT RECOGNIZING JUNETEENTH 2026
Washington, D.C. — June 19, 2026 — Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement:
“Juneteenth marks a pivotal moment in our nation’s history and serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring strength, resilience, and contributions of Black Americans. As we commemorate the day freedom finally reached the last enslaved people in the United States, we reflect on how far our nation has come and the work that continues to move us forward.
“At NABTU, we believe opportunity strengthens communities and builds a better future. Through careers in the unionized construction industry, we are committed to creating pathways to economic mobility, dignity, and purpose for working people across America.
“Today, we honor the legacy of those who came before us and reaffirm our commitment to building a future where every worker has the opportunity to succeed.”
