NABTU Statement on the 25th Anniversary of September 11
WASHINGTON, D.C. — September 11, 2026 — North America’s Building Trades (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement:
“Today, the entire Building Trades family pauses to remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken on September 11, 2001, and the families who continue to carry the pain of that profound loss.
“For our unions and our members, this anniversary is deeply personal. We lost brothers and sisters that day. In the days and months that followed, thousands of heroic Building Trades members answered the call, working alongside first responders and recovery personnel at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and throughout the affected communities.
“With extraordinary courage and selflessness, they worked through unimaginable conditions to help recover the fallen, clear the devastation, and begin the long process of rebuilding. Many made the ultimate sacrifice. Others continue to live with the physical and emotional consequences of their service.
“Twenty-five years later, we honor all who were lost, all who answered the call, and all who helped our nation begin to heal. Their courage and sacrifice will forever remain part of the legacy of the Building Trades. We remember them, we honor them, and we will never forget.”
