With the historic federal investments from the Biden Administration, including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Inflation Reduction Act, and CHIPS and Science Act, NABTU is hitting the road to visit Building Trades Training Centers in every corner of America to promote our best-in-class training infrastructure and showcase how we are prepared to meet the moment and build the Infrastructure Generation.
Each event includes a press conference and training center tour with guests from local building trades councils, key project owners, contractors, community leaders, and Apprenticeship Readiness Program (ARP) graduates.
In September, NABTU visited Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a variety of events continuing the nationwide Opportunity Pipeline Road Tour… This event specifically focused on the urgent need for childcare accommodations for all workers, but especially those in the building trades who work untraditional hours.Read More
On August 24, NABTU visited UA Local 572 in Nashville, TN as the fifth stop of the Opportunity Pipeline Road Tour. This event featured several significant local speakers including Mayor John Cooper, Mayoral Candidate Freddie O’Connell, Tennessee Valley Authority’s Justin Maiherhoffer, Stand Up Nashville’s Nathaniel Carter, and more. On June 28, NABTU visited St. Louis, Missouri at the Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 training center. This event highlighted the career opportunities created through St. Louis’s Building Union Diversity Apprenticeship Readiness Program, as well as the new partnership between TradesFutures and the National Urban League aimed at recruiting and retaining more underrepresented communities to building trades careers.Read More
On June 1, NABTU visited Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Laborers’ District Council training center. This event focused on how the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council has worked diligently to provide pathways to building trades careers for local underserved communities.Read More
On May 17, NABTU made the second stop of its national road tour in Boston, Massachusetts at the Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 training center. This event focused on how the Greater Boston Building Trades Unions and Massachusetts State Building Trades Unions are leading the way with their diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts – particularly through the Building Pathways Apprenticeship Readiness Program.Read More
